Consular approach
On Tuesday, March 15th, 2022, His Excellency Mr. Tiémoko MORIKO took part in the opening ceremony of the African Union (AU) Reflection Forum on Unconstitutional Changes of Government (CAGs) in Africa, Organized by the Department of Political Affairs , Peace and Security of the African Union Commission, which was held from 15th to 17th March 2022 in Accra, Ghana.
This Forum is a framework for reflection for stakeholders on the factors behind Unconstitutional Changes of Government (UCG) in Africa with a view to proposing lasting solutions.
The conclusions of this Forum will be decisive for the Extraordinary Summit of AU Heads of State and Government, scheduled for May 27-28, 2022 in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea. Proposals will be made for the drafting of an Additional Protocol to the African Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance.
The Forum will also produce a comprehensive document that will take into account issues not covered by current African Union policy instruments and actions on Unconstitutional Changes of Government in African countries.
