SIGNATURE OF THE BOOK OF CONDOLENCES BY HIS EXCELLENCY MR. JOHN AGYEKUM KUFUOR, FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF GHANA AT THE CHANCELLORY OF CÔTE D'IVOIRE IN GHANA IN HOMAGE TO FORMER PRESIDENT HENRI KONAN BEDIE RECALLED TO GOD ON TUESDAY, AUGUST 1, 2023

On Friday August 11, the last day of national mourning and signing of the book of condolences opened at the Chancellery of Côte d'Ivoire in Ghana in tribute to His Excellency Mr. Henri Konan Bédié, former President of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, was marked by the presence of His Excellency John Agyekum KUFUOR, former President of the Republic of Ghana.
The arrival of the former President at 2 p.m. at the Chancellery was a moment of meditation in front of the Ardent Chapel with His Excellency Mr. Assiélou Félix TANON and the staff of the Embassy. Moment during which the former President expressed his compassion and solidarity with the brotherly people of Côte d'Ivoire, the President of the Republic and the family of his friend and brother His Excellency Mr. Henri Konan BEDIE, called to God on the 1st August 2023 in Abidjan.
The signing of the book of condolences was followed by an exchange between the Ambassador and the former Ghanaian President. The Ambassador took this opportunity to express, on behalf of His Excellency Mr. Alassane OUATTARA, President of the Republic, of the Government and of the Ivorian people, of the family of President BEDIE and his wife, his thanks to the former President Ghanaian KUFUOR for having made the trip to personally express his sincere condolences to the people of Côte d'Ivoire, a sign of his attachment to Côte d'Ivoire and his sons.
The Ambassador also expressed his gratitude and that of Côte d'Ivoire as a whole to former President KUFUOR who, under his leadership, encouraged the meetings in Ghana, called Accra 1, 2 and 3, with a view to finding a solution to the Ivorian crisis of 2002.
The former President of Ghana said he was happy despite the sadness that drives him to have had the opportunity to pay tribute to his brother President BEDIE and his immense contribution to the well-being of Côte d'Ivoire. He noted that Côte d'Ivoire being the brother country of Ghana, the three Presidents BEDIE, GBAGBO and OUATTARA are his brothers and he maintains special relations with each of them. According to him, Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire are twin nations separated by borders. He recalled his involvement in the resolution of the Ivorian crisis with the meetings in Marcoussis and Accra, adding that peace in Côte d'Ivoire is important to preserve peace in the sub-region.
His Excellency Mr. KUFUOR reiterated his condolences to the President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Alassane OUATTARA, to the Ivorian people and to the family of the deceased before his departure from the Chancellery.
