Arrived at 11:40 a.m. at the Embassy of Côte d'Ivoire in Accra, H.E.M. NANA ADDO DANKWA AKUFO-ADDO was welcomed by H.E.M. Assielou Félix TANON Ambassador of Côte d'Ivoire in Accra who had at his side Mr. Alex Assanvo Executive Secretary of the Côte d'Ivoire-Ghana Cocoa Initiative (ICCIGH).

After signing the book of condolences, the President of the Republic of Ghana granted a brief audience to Ambassador Assielou Félix TANON at his office.

During the discussions that followed in the Ambassador's office, H.E.M. TANON expressed on behalf of His Excellency Mr. Alassane OUATTARA, President of the Republic, of the Government, of the Ivorian people, of the family of the deceased and of the wife of the illustrious deceased, his thanks to the President of Ghana for having made the trip to personally express his sincere condolences and his compassion to the people of Côte d'Ivoire through the signing of this book of condolences.

The Ambassador added that his presence with the Ivorian people in these moments of great emotion is a sign of the strong ties that unite Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana, and of the quality of the relations of friendship and brotherhood that existed. between President Bédié and Him.
Then, H.E.M. TANON presented his condolences to the Ghanaian President for the loss of his eldest.

In response, the President of the Republic of Ghana declared that he had expressed his condolences to the President of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire upon the announcement of the death of President BEDIE.
The President of Ghana noted that the illustrious deceased was a statesman, a faithful servant of the Nation, with President Félix HOUPHOUËT-BOIGNY as Minister of Finance, enabled Côte d'Ivoire to achieve its economic boom of the 60s-70s.
The President of Ghana said he was saddened by the sudden and unexpected departure of his eldest President BEDIE who did not hesitate to remind him of his Ghanaian origins.
Before closing his remarks His Excellency Mr. Nana Addo Dankwa AKUFO -ADDO reiterated his condolences to the President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Alassane OUATTARA, to the Ivorian people and to the family of the deceased.
It was at 1 p.m. that SEM. Nana Addo Dankwa AKUFO-ADDO left the Embassy.
It should be noted that this is the first time that a President of the Republic of Ghana has visited our Embassy.
